Sailing Mallorca to Ciudadela Menorca. Bareboat or skippered charter ?

Mallorca sailing holidays will usually involve coastal hops from 1 gorgeous anchorage or marina to another.  However a popular destination when chartering a yacht in Mallorca is the island of Menorca.  Our bases in Pollenca & Alcudia make a great departure point from which to cross the Canal De Menorca to the original ancient capital of Ciudadela Menorca 35Nm due East. A good daysail comfortably completed in daylight hours, often with the prevailing NE winds involving sailing 1 tack each way.

The approach to Ciudadela is quite magical, the near shoreline is a ridge of low cliff with the odd mountain behind.  As you close the shore finally the tower becomes identifiable (Glass building behind  can obscure a little) the entrance opens then turns into what I would best describe as a small Callanque. First to Starboard is the reasonably swish & very welcoming Club Nautico, then a lit boardwalk/pontoon cut under the cliff face leads to the ancient quay where yachts (Everything from 50 Ft Cats to classic varnished sloops) moor 10 foot from the busy restaurant tables.  Steps wind through restaurants up to the city above, the former capitol a city merits at least a day maybe 3 depending on your tastes to explore.

Depending on the skill & comfort level of skipper & crew we can offer a skippered charter in Mallorca. The above passage often has land visible at all times however the ease & happiness of family & crew is the key to success in any Balearic sailing holiday. A professional skipper should impart knowledge, advise & qualify decisions or take over if required. We have RYA instructors (RYA sea school Power & sail) to run a course with resultant qualification if preferred. A fun, stress free sailing holiday for all is key to success.

Sailing from Menorca to Mallorca may well be 1 broad reach, the 1st sighting will be the mountains & headlands that surround Alcudia & Pollenca bays. If heading for Alcudia a useful mark will be the tall chimney inland followed by the 2 slightly smaller chimneys of the old power station that lies to the East of the commercial port.

A great & satisfying passage in the Balearic sea.
